Our People

Here at Peacock Sky Vineyard, most of our people come from somewhere else, looking for some place inspiring to settle for a time and continue on their Life’s learning path. We invest in our chefs, wine makers, tasters, servers, gardeners, cleaners and drivers who then bring their love and their life’s passions to us!

Featuring: Mery

When Mery is in the kitchen, magic happens. This chemical engineer lives for cooking and you can definitely taste it in our new summer menu! Her passion for food was obvious since childhood and her family has been supporting her all the way, even when she decided to move to the other side of the world, New Zealand!

Though Mery likes to spent her free time cooking, occasionally you can find her at the beach or having a glass of wine with friends! You can honestly say that this Argentinian lives for food. Lucky for us!

So what does she recommend for people coming to visit Peacock Sky? Her favorite wine is 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, enjoyed with Kumara gnocchi. And for dessert Chocolate, caramel and nuts.

Featuring: Nacho

Since Nacho was a child, his dream was to become a chef. His dream was inspired by his Italian roots and especially by his mother and grandmother. When Nacho heard about a job opportunity at Peacock Sky, he said yes in a second! Now he’s happy to be part of the team, learning new skills and having fun with a “beautiful work group”.

Nacho’s plans for the future include spending more time in New Zealand before traveling and working in kitchens across the world. Not forgetting his passion for soccer! You can find this Argentinian in the field playing soccer or cheering for his favourite team, Boca Juniors.

And what does this chef recommend when you’re coming to Peacock Sky to have lunch? His favorite Peacock Sky wine is 2014 Pure Merlot, to be accompanied with my favorite dish, the Sirloin Strip.”

Featuring: Sky

Meet Sky, the owner of Peacock Sky Vineyard. Or at least how he likes to think.

Usually you can find Sky from the vineyard, hanging out around or begging for a belly rub.

And what does this cute Bordercollie recommend to doggie friends when they come to hang out at Peacock Sky? Sleeping under the table, with some refreshing water that Peacock Sky will provide when having four legged guests.

Featuring: Samantha

As she buzzes around bringing yummy wine to our guests for wine tasting, this wine enthusiastic is living her dream. If Samantha hadn’t followed her passion for wine, she would still be working in the publishing industry in New York. We are really happy to have Samantha as part of the Peacock Sky team, with her excellent wine knowledge and bad jokes!

It’s no wonder that Samantha is planning to travel to France, to experience the European summer. And maybe we will see her back here in New Zealand, because she is also planning to visit our neighbor country, Australia!

And what does Samantha recommend to people having lunch in Peacock Sky? Her favorite is  Kumara gnocchi and any dessert from the summer menu. And wine? You would think that this wine lover wouldn’t have any trouble naming her favorite, but luckily we can say that she loves all Peacock Sky wines so much that she can’t name just one!

Featuring: Martin

When Martin joined our team, he started as a dishwasher. In a short time, this Argentinian proved to be multi-skilled and that’s why he is now part of Peacock Sky’s kitchen team, bringing his knowledge of Argentinian and Italian food to New Zealand.

Martin is keen on soccer so you can find him out playing soccer or walking on the beach. He also loves dancing, so you might even see him rocking the dance floor Sunday nights at Malones, enjoying some Latina rhythms.

And what does Martin recommend for people having lunch at Peacock Sky? Because he doesn’t drink alcohol at all, he recommends a cold cup of milk enjoyed with some Signature criss-cut Westies.

Featuring: Summer

What you might notice first about our Summer is her multi-colored hair and numerous tattoos. As our Front House Manager, you´ll probably find her at the cellar door, organizing daily tasks and chatting with our guests. She enjoys her work because she can meet different people from different countries every day.

This Finn has never been keen on winter and cold, so it’s no surprise that when Summer came to New Zealand, she arrived here with her greyhound. It seems we might see this duo here for a long time, enjoying their time at the beach or having long walks in the forest.

And what would Summer recommend for guests coming to Peacock Sky to have lunch? Her favorite combo is the Cheese slate with 2014 Pure Merlot.

Featuring: Nathan

Empty glass of wine? Never with our tasting supervisor, Nathan. Lucky for us, this Frenchie, didn’t follow his childhood dream to become an astronaut. Instead he studied wines, started to travel and eventually came to work in New Zealand.

Nathan likes to see every tasting as a journey, where you travel from one taste to another, having fun experiencing all the flavours in your wine. It’s no wonder that his tastings are very popular and make people come back for more!

And what does he recommend to people coming to have lunch at Peacock Sky? Well, don’t expect him to name any foods from the list! Nathan is all about the wines and that’s why you only get wine recommendations, like his favorite 2014 Pure Malbec.

Featuring: Amy

When Amy came to New Zealand, she wanted to learn more about wines. And why not, as she and her boyfriend have plans to develop oenotourism back home in Bordeaux, the wine mecca of France. So when Amy saw that Peacock Sky was looking for employees to join the summer team, she didn’t hesitate to send in an application. Now our guests enjoy her cheerful attitude at Le Côté de la Colline restaurant where, as restaurant supervisor, she is providing excellent customer service to our guests.

It’s no wonder that this wine enthusiastic spends her free time by reading wine books. You might also spot her hiking, swimming and of course, having a glass of wine with friends!

And what does our always-smiling Amy recommend to people when coming to have lunch in Peacock Sky? Some Kumara gnocchi with her favorite wine 2016 Chardonnay.

Featuring: Mocho

When this Argentinian heard about Peacock Sky looking for people, from Martin, he was excited for the opportunity. And we have been so happy of him wanting to join our team! You might have already heard of special cocktail- days, when Mocho is doing his magic of mixing beautiful red wine cocktails for our guests to enjoy.

It’s no wonder that our mixologist is planning to learn more about wine and cocktails in the future. Maybe we will see Mocho running his own cocktail bar somewhere in the world one day, if he doesn’t decide to chase his childhood dream of coming a firefighter, of course!

And what does he recommend to people that come for lunch at Peacock Sky? His favorite dish Lamb Shank to be accompanied with 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.
